Whether you enjoy a competitive kickabout or you’re a budding professional footballer keen to represent BU in football, we’ve got a range of opportunities for everyone.
Our student football campus leagues (men’s 5-a-side, men's 9-a-side, men’s 11-a-side, women's 5-a-side league and Freshers 5's Football League are available) are a great way to play football socially while competing in organised leagues or join purely social football for an hour a week, no commitment needed.
Meanwhile, if you're a talented footballer and successful in trials, you'll have the opportunity to represent BU as part of our Performance Sport programme.

If you’re successful in becoming a member of TeamBU, you’ll be required to purchase a sport specific membership.
This membership includes: BUCS affiliation fees, personal sports insurance, weekly coaching and conditioning sessions and TeamBU transport.

TeamBU Football competing against Solent University in the annual Varsity eventTeamBU: our Performance Sport football teams
TeamBU Football, our men’s and women’s Performance Sport football teams, compete in British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS) leagues and competitions.
They’re coached and managed by AFC Bournemouth (AFCB) – a benefit of our long-standing partnership with the club – and have FA University Grassroots Hubs status.

Campus Sport Football Leagues
Get your course friends, flatmates or housemates together and take part in a SportBU campus football league. They’re a great competitive way to stay fit and have fun throughout the year.
We’ll organise everything for you and your team, including the venue, equipment and the referees. We also hold periodic recruitment events for free agents looking to get involved with existing teams.
5-a-Side Leagues
Teams will compete within their leagues for a place in the finals day cup competition over the course of seven weeks, seeing who will be crowned champions of the 5-a-Side arena. Leagues fixtures and tables will renew from January for the spring term.
*Teams are entitled to enter squads of up to 8 players.

11-a-Side Leagues
Teams will compete in an initial Autumn term 'Ranking' league to determine which league they will compete in come the spring term. At this point the 11-a-Side league will be split into 'Premiership' and 'Championship' leagues which will run until the end of the spring term. In addition, there is an annual cup competition included in the team entry price.
*Teams are entitled to enter squads of up to 20 players.

Campus Sport: Freshers 5's football leagues
If you are a first year student with BU or AUB, you will have exclusive access to our new Freshers 5's Football league - a league designed to promote your social, mental and physical wellbeing to make sure your university experience does not stop when you step off-campus. The perfect way to make new friends through a shared love of the beautiful game!
Included in the £37.50 cost per person are two academic terms of football leagues, a dedicated Facebook group and a welcome event at The Old Fire Station, Lansdowne.
