University Hospitals Dorset (UHD) and Bournemouth University's (BU) final event as part of a series of free Understanding Health talks with expert speakers will take place on 4 June at 6pm in BU’s Fusion Building, Talbot Campus (Share Lecture Theatre) and will focus on Understanding Pathology: Health under the microscope.
What is Pathology and why is it important? We all carry instructions that influence our reactions to life events, the risk of having certain diseases, or our ability to have children. Speakers Nathan Bourne, Biomedical Scientist and Governance and Quality Manager at University Hospitals Dorset NHS Foundation Trust and Dr Anna Mantzouratou, Principal Academic in Human Genetics at BU will discuss how pathology laboratories are taking a more personalised approach to healthcare.
Dr Anna Mantzouratou said, "Through this event, we would like to highlight the great power behind the laboratory and the direction that healthcare is going to because of great advances in pathology. The future points to a personalised health care approach but working together in research and clinical diagnosis."
Nathan Bourne said, "Various specialities make up a modern pathology department in the NHS. Learn how they interact with clinical services to provide diagnostic support for over 80% of all healthcare pathways at this event."
This event is free and open to everyone, but booking is required to attend in person.
