BU Strategic Management and Marketing Professor, Dimitrios Buhalis won the Great Sea Award 2023 - Research in Innovative Sustainable Tourism Solutions at the Mediterranean Tourism Awards. Dimitrios received this award in recognition of his significant contribution to innovative tourism initiatives.
This prestigious award, organised by the Mediterranean Tourism Foundation (MTF) in Malta, was awarded by His Excellency, the President of Malta, George Vella, during a ceremony at the Mediterranean Conference Centre on Thursday 23 November.
Professor Dimitrios Buhalis, said: “I am honoured to receive this award that recognises the impact of my smart tourism research for the wider Mediterranean region. This recognition is a testament to the collaborative efforts of my mentors, colleagues, students, and research network to develop smart innovations for tourism. The advancement of tourism research is critical for the sustainability of resources and communities.”
