Do you know somebody who could inspire BU’s students and staff and whose impact locally, nationally or globally is worthy of the highest recognition? If so, it’s time to nominate them for an Honorary Award.
What are Honorary Awards and why do we give them?
BU gives Honorary Awards to inspire the BU community, recognise the contributions of individuals and to celebrate success. Recipients of Honorary Awards are presented with their award at one of our graduation ceremonies and become part of the BU community. There is no prescribed number of awards each year, although there is normally one Honorary Degree or Fellowship conferred at each awards ceremony.
We are now seeking new nominations for 2024 onwards.
Who can nominate?
BU students, members of BU staff, Board or Chancellery may nominate someone to recieve an Honorary Degree or Fellowship. Nominations must be submitted using the Nomination Form. You are encouraged to refer to the Guidance for Nominations before completing and submitting your form.
What is the deadline for nominations to be allocated to the 2024 awards ceremonies?
The Honorary Awards Committee welcomes nominations all year round but the deadline for nominations to be considered and approved to the November 2024 graduation ceremonies is the 26 January 2024.
Completed forms must be submitted to [email protected] by this deadline.
What if I don’t submit my nomination by the closing date?
Nominations are open on a rolling basis and you can submit one at any time of year. A deadline is set so that nominations can be allocated to a particular year’s awards ceremonies. Nominations received after the stated deadline will be held on file and considered for the following year’s ceremonies.
