BU’s Professor of Orthopaedics and leading hip surgeon at University Hospitals Dorset (UHD), Rob Middleton, gave advice to patients in the first of a series of virtual presentations.
The talk, hosted by UHD NHS, was a good chance to understand more about the partnership between BU and UHD, included advice and tips on how patients can help themselves to be as fit as possible prior to their operation or procedure, and explained why it's so important to take care of ourselves post lockdown.
Rob, who works at UHD as the Director of Trauma and is Head of BU’s Orthopaedic Research Unit, also addressed Covid-19’s impact on waiting times and the positive effect that new buildings, clinics and staff will have in the future.
When discussing the partnership, Professor Middleton praised the sharing of the university’s modern facilities and the professional opportunities for future graduates. Professor Middleton said: “We’re training more and more of our new staff here in the hospital and in the university. That gives us a secure and sustainable workforce.”
