BU and Zhejiang University, China (ZJU) will host a series of virtual workshops to explore research and expertise aligned with BU’s Strategic Investment Areas (SIAs).
The workshops will take place virtually on the 14 and 15 January 2021, and will focus on animation, simulation and visualisation and its application to medical science, with the two organisations working together through the National Centre for Computer Animation, NCCA.
BU and ZJU have a long-standing history of research collaboration. This is mainly relating to the research expertise of the NCCA at BU. Colleagues from both institutions have published a range of papers together and collaborated on funding bid submissions. This workshop aims to expand on the existing collaboration between both institutions.
Jim Andrews, Chief Operating Officer at Bournemouth University, said, “We have worked with Zhejiang University for a number of years in the area of computer animation. To support the development of our joint strategic developments, we have put together a tailored programme of events to increase our engagement and impact across our Strategic Investment Areas. We look forward to exploring the potential for expanding the existing collaboration between ZJU and BU.”
The workshop series will focus on the Animation, Simulation and Visualisation SIA and the Medical Science SIA and will also be a chance for Early Career Researchers to develop important networks with colleagues in China. There will be opportunities to network with those involved and attendees.
The two-day event will also include presentations from researchers and PhD students at both universities as well as hour long sessions that focus on a specific topic and highlight the expertise of both institutions in the area of animation, visualisation and simulation and medical science.
