Bournemouth University has been named as one of the top 500 universities in the world in the 2020 Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings.
The ranking lists the best universities globally across core areas including teaching, research, knowledge transfer and international outlook.
BU has been listed between 401 – 500 in the 2020 rankings, up from 501-600 last year.
Deputy Vice-Chancellor Professor Tim McIntyre-Bhatty said: “To be named as one of the top 500 universities globally is a significant achievement and testament to the excellent work taking place here at BU.
“This ranking recognises our high-quality education, research and professional practice which continue to inspire learning and advance knowledge.
“Our aim is to extend our impact as an international university in the coming years, working with partners across the globe to enrich the world in which we live.”
Now in its 16th year, the ranking includes over 1,300 universities from 92 countries, making it the largest higher education analysis to date.
Ellie Bothwell, Rankings Editor for Times Higher Education, said: “Our 2020 World University Rankings are the most competitive ever, and universities must work harder and harder in order to make serious positive progress.
“For Bournemouth University to enter into the top 500 at a time when British institutions are coming under serious international pressure is a fantastic achievement.”
