A Bournemouth University (BU) graduate has been awarded an Honorary Doctor of Science from the University of Bedfordshire for services to charitable causes.
Chantal Lockey, who graduated from BU in 2003, is CEO at The Foundation for Infant Loss, a charity committed to providing first class education in infant loss and bereavement. After receiving her BA (Hons) degree in Communication and Media, Chantal set up the foundation to offer a range of services to support bereaved families, including infant loss study days for midwives, nurses and counselling professionals and training in baby bereavement photography.
Chantal has published Pregnancy and Infant Loss: A Guide for Professionals and has had her work acknowledged with numerous awards internationally.
Chantal said: "I am delighted to have been informed that I have been bestowed the great honour of an Honorary Doctor of Science Award from The University of Bedfordshire. I am delighted that this award also raises the platform of my work in Pregnancy and Infant Loss Education.”
Salvatore Scifo, Programme Leader of the BA (Hons) in Communication and Media added: “We are very proud of this achievement by one of our graduates and will be sharing this great news with our current cohort of students to inspire them to excel in their careers."
