The third Postgraduate Development Award ceremony was held in Student Centre recently, celebrating the hard work of the 70 BU postgraduate students who completed the award this year. Collectively, they committed an impressive 1,400 hours into the award, making them truly stand out from the crowd. Over 22 countries were represented on the evening, including invited guests.
11 awards were also given out for exemplary performance on the BU Postgraduate Development Award, recognising students who showed relentless attention to detail in the presentation of their development portfolios, outstanding time management, and vigorous reflective writing to strongly evidence their personal and professional development.
Xiaohua Zheng, MSc International Risk Management & Finance student and Gold Award winner, shared “This was one of the best ceremonies I have attended and I was very excited to receive my award. Completing the programme and all the activities has been a brilliant and unforgettable experience, and this was a great way to celebrate reaching our goal!”.
The Postgraduate Development Awards offers students on postgraduate taught courses at BU a range of activities which focus on research skills training, career management and transferable skills. There are also social opportunities encouraging students from all subject backgrounds to interact. At the start of the programme all students undertake a skills audit to identify their strengths and areas for development which is then used to focus their work and activities undertaken for the award.
