Students from Bournemouth University have been shortlisted for the Royal Television Society (RTS) Student Awards, which celebrate the best in student talent from across the UK.
Postgraduate students have received nominations in two categories for this year’s awards – Postgraduate Factual and Postgraduate Comedy & Entertainment.
Karl Rawstrone, Framework Leader for MA Media Production at Bournemouth University, said: “It’s excellent news for our Postgraduate Media Production courses and all the staff and students involved should be very proud of their achievements.
“Students from all over the world come and study with us at postgraduate level aware of BU’s reputation in delivering the next generation of creatives to the film and broadcast sectors, not just in the UK but internationally. These nominations are further evidence to support that reputation.”
He added: “All of the students included in these prestigious nominations have demonstrated that both creatively and professionally they are operating at the highest standards in their fields and I congratulate them all.”
BU’s Thuy Le and Tiago Espirito Santo have been shortlisted in the Postgraduate Factual category, for their film The Heart’s Scar.
The Life of a Sober Man – created by Antonios Vallindras, Daphne Gassaldo, Alberto Olivieri, Betty Inegbenebor and Ana Catarina Pinheiro – is nominated in the Postgraduate Comedy and Entertainment category.
The RTS Student awards recognise outstanding work produced during the 2014/15 academic year.
The winners will be announced on Friday 3 June, in a ceremony at the BFI Southbank . The nominated films will also be available to view on Sky Arts’ on demand service following the award.
