As a Fairtrade University, BU is dedicated to making a difference through selling Fairtrade products, which supports farmers and workers in developing countries.
Our efforts were recently rewarded during the South West Fairtrade Business Awards 2016 ceremony hosted in the At-Bristol Science Centre, where BU secured a gold award in the “Best Fairtrade University or College” category.
The strong partnership between BU, SUBU and Chartwells gave us the opportunity to apply for the award and ultimately contributed to the win.
BU sells numerous Fairtrade items in our shops and catering outlets, but products aren’t limited to just food and drinks. SportBU is a fantastic example of how Fairtrade efforts can be implemented across different areas of our operations; the footballs used at SportBU are Fairtrade certified and this is another example of how BU makes a difference to the lives of producers in developing countries.
