The national governing body for weightlifting and powerlifting, British Weight Lifting, has announced their 14 strong team to compete in this years European Weightlifting Championships and gain points for Rio 2016 - and we're #BUproud to celebrate that their team includes BU sports scholar Noorin Gulam.
Team GB need the females to finish in the top 7 in Europe in order to qualify a spot, and Noorin has been identified as a strong candidate and will compete in the -53kg category.
It's an exciting time for the Women’s GB Weightlifting team as they have also been shortlisted for the ‘Sporting role model’ team award at the #BeAGameChanger awards as part of the WomenSportTrust - public voting will open on 18 April and winners will be announced on 12 May 2016.
The European Weightlifting Championships take place in Førde, Norway from 10-16 April 2016.
