International Women’s Day - 8 March – is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievement of women.
To mark the day, BU is hosting two events and students, staff and members of the public are invited to attend.
Friday 4 March – Standing on the shoulders of giants: A career and life in health
1pm – 2pm, BG10, Bournemouth House
Professor Laura Serrant is Professor of Community and Public Health Nursing in the Faculty of Education, Health and Wellbeing at the University of Wolverhampton. She is currently on secondment with NHS England as Head of Evidence and Strategy. She was previously a Non-executive Director at Heart of England Foundation Trust and Skills for Health Academy, England.

Tuesday 8 March – Rising to the top: the reflections of a female chief constable
11.30am – 12.30pm, Lees Lecture Theatre, Talbot Campus
The Chief Constable Debbie Simpson will speak about her experiences of rising to the top as one of the few female chief constables in the country. During her talk Debbie will discuss her interest in helping to develop future leaders within the Police Force and senior women in policing roles. She will also touch on the opportunities and challenges facing Dorset Police.
