Hannah O'Hare, a BA (Hons) in Event Management graduate from 2015, enjoyed a short career in the events industry before discovering her passion for supporting others. Now Chief Executive for Forest Holme Hospice Charity, Hannah is deeply committed to enhancing the quality of life for people facing life-limiting illnesses.
Forest Holme was set-up to ensure that everyone in the local community affected by life-limiting illness or bereavement gets the care and support they need, either at home or in the dedicated hospice facility. Under Hannah’s stewardship, the charity raises £1 million each year to provide the highest level of care, when and where it counts, to a vulnerable part of our community. As well as providing much-needed resources, Hannah has also established support and educational groups, a befriender service and a podcast that discusses life and loss.
The Alumni of the Year Award panel felt that Hannah deserved special commendation, having been moved by her story and the wonderfully rewarding career path that she has chosen.
Hannah said: “I am really touched to be recognised by Bournemouth University. I have many great memories from my time as a student and feel as though my experience at university has played a large part in my work to date”.
