Public Involvement in Education and Research (PIER partnership) has 107 core members, who are experts by experience, and links with 103 organisations and their members who contribute across the Faculty of Health & Social Sciences to lectures, consultation sessions, assessment panels, role plays and simulations, admissions to qualifying postgraduate programmes, curriculum design, portfolio reading, and all stages of research activity.
We value the expertise of people who are experts by experience and the contribution they can make to education, professional practice, professional programmes and research activity. Our model includes service users and carers who share their stories to enable students and academics to think critically and reflect on their personal and professional development.
However, our involvement at the university goes beyond this and we use experts by experience as consultants, reviewers, researchers, facilitators, educators and assessors, making use of their expertise and the perspectives they can share.
