We all know how important it is to look after both our physical and mental health, especially during periods of increased pressure.
We are working in partnership with local Holistic Therapist, Corinne McCrea who is a fully qualified professional and insured massage therapist. She provides individually tailored massage treatments in the safe environment of SportBU.
Holistic treatments focus on your overall wellbeing, rather than treating particular symptoms separately. They also offer you the chance to take some time out to pause, relax and recharge, focusing on you.
Here are some of the benefits of regular holistic treatments:
• Reduce pain
• Lower stress and anxiety
• Improve mobility
• Boost mood and wellbeing
• Calm the mind
• Help recovery of soft tissue injury
• Promote better sleep
• ...and more.
The list of available treatments for both BU students, staff and member of the community includes a variety of massages such as deep tissue massage, seated neck, shoulder and upper back massage, reflexology, hopi ear candling as well as online self-care wellbeing sessions. Key information
Treatments offered
Deep tissue massage
This is a wonderful restorative treatment helping release muscle tension, stimulate blood flow and sooth the nervous system. It helps restore the function of the muscles and surrounding connective tissues and in return helps movement and flexibility - and particularly effective to treat and prevent soft tissue strains, sprains and address postural issues. The pressure of the massage will be adapted to suit your own pain tolerance and needs.
Reflexology
This a therapeutic method of stimulating predefined pressure points on the feet (and hands) enhancing overall wellbeing and relaxation, as well as helping reduce pain, stress and anxiety. No need to undress. Just a light oil will be used on your feet.
Seated neck, shoulder, and back massage
This is a rejuvenating treatment ideal for the workplace using a combination of massage and acupressure technique on the back, neck shoulders arms, hands and scalp (optional). No oil is used and no need to undress. Therefore, you can go straight back to work feeling refreshed and revitalised.
Online self-care wellbeing sessions
The online sessions are perfect to address postural issues, alleviate sore spots, improve your mobility and boost general wellbeing. The sessions will be tailored according to individual needs. They will include guided self massages techniques, simple stretch and a relaxation routine (either breath work, short visualisation/meditation routine).
These sessions can be for individual or group (maximum 6).
