This is a guide to the normal entry requirements, assuming you’ve followed the education system in Singapore.  An admissions tutor will study your application, so make sure you include your academic background and personal information when you apply.

Entry requirements vary depending on what sort of course you’re coming to BU to study.

  • BU International College Foundation Certificates. 
    You can undertake a Foundation Certificate before going on to an undergraduate course if you successful complete 1 year of education post ‘O’ level in Singapore. You will also need to have achieved a minimum of IELTS (UKVI, Academic) 5.0.
  • Undergraduate courses. 
    Our minimum requirement for entry onto our Undergraduate degree courses is:
    Singapore / Cambridge GCE A levels with a minimum B/C average.
    However, some courses may ask for higher depending on their grade requirements.  If you do not have the grades required, you could undertake the Bournemouth University International Foundation Certificate). 
  • Top-Up courses (Final year Undergraduate courses).
    Our minimum requirement for entry onto our Undergraduate degree courses is:
    Singapore Polytechnic Advanced Diploma or completion of 3 years of a 4 year degree course in Singapore.
  • Postgraduate (taught) courses 
    Our minimum requirement for entry onto our Postgraduate (taught) degree courses is: Bachelor (Honours) degree from Singapore with a minimum of a 2nd class lower.
    However, some courses may ask for higher depending on their grade requirements.  If you do not have the grades required, you could undertake the Bournemouth University Pre Masters Programme).
  • Research programmes
    ​Our minimum requirement for entry onto our Research degree courses You need a good postgraduate degree to be considered for a BU research programme. Please see more detail on the postgraduate research page.
