Bournemouth University’s global Festival of Learning is an exciting platform for international public engagement that celebrates learning, disseminates cutting edge research and delivers impact across borders. It builds on our successful UK based Festival of Learning, which is a celebration of learning and has showcased BU’s research and expertise to a wide and varied audience of more than 25,000 people over the years.
The global Festival of Learning is now in its third year. Over the years of the Festivals, we have brought together thought leaders across 16 cities in six different countries, reaching over 4000 people in the process. Tailored to the host region each Festival incorporates free events and activities ranging from networking sessions, interactive workshops, panel sessions, meet the expert sessions, and public lectures, alongside an exciting programme of cultural and social activities. To get a flavour of previous global Festivals take a look at the highlight films produced by our students from our 2017 Festival series in Indonesia, Malaysia, China and India.
In 2018, the overarching theme for the Festival of Learning was, Global Education 2050: Inspiring Learning, Delivering Impact. Bringing together partners from education, industry and policy in ASEAN, China, India and Europe, the Festival of Learning provided a unique platform to take education and learning in imaginative new directions. Participants, panellists and the public engaged in a programme filled with interactive sessions including papers, posters and presentations that discuss, debate and drive research, policy and practice around the future of global education.
