Everyone with an immigration status living in the UK needs to be aware of the switch to eVisa’s and what action you need to take before the end of the year. Read our useful information webpage to find out more.
The Home Office is changing the process for proving immigration status in the UK. The new approach phases out physical documents such as Biometric Residence Permits (BRPs) and passports with vignettes, replacing them with a digital immigration status called an eVisa.
The eVisa will act as digital proof of your visa, enabling employers, landlords, and university to easily verify your immigration status for work, rental, or study purposes in the UK.
This change will affect all non-UK and Irish nationals who have any form of visa valid beyond 31 December 2024 but whose BRP cards expire on that date. If you have an immigration status, make sure to read our information page and take any required actions before the end of the year.
Please also share this webpage with students so they’re able to take appropriate action before the end of the year. Early in 2025, we will be reaching out to BU students to ask for their share code. Alternatively, they can let us know now by emailing [email protected].
