Nerve Radio are looking to add to their trophy cabinet following this year’s Amplify Awards hosted by the Student Radio Association, where they took home one gold, three silver and two bronze awards for the station.
Jacob Dyer, current Station Manager at Nerve Radio, said:
Being involved with Nerve Radio is my favourite part of being a student at Bournemouth University.
“The station has come so far in the last 13 months, and to see Nerve Radio nominated for so many awards is a real testament to the incredible success we have built as a team.
“We feel so honoured to see our name alongside some real big student radio stations. No matter what the outcome is, we couldn’t be more grateful for the fact that our hard work has been recognised amongst so many categories.”
Former Station Manager, Pip Hemingway, headed up the team during the last academic year alongside Co-Station Manager, Bronwyn Reeve. Since graduating from Bournemouth University this year, Pip has been elected as the South Regional Officer for the Student Radio Association. She said:
I’m so incredibly proud that the Nerve Radio Team has gotten recognition for their hard work over the last year.
“To be nominated for five versatile categories shows how strong the station has become, and it gives such a fantastic start to the year ahead. I know we’ll all be hoping for gold, but even just being amongst the six shortlisted for ‘Best Student Radio Station’ on a national scale is a monumental achievement.”
Alongside its award success, Nerve Radio has a long history of helping Bournemouth University students who have hosted their own radio shows on the station going on to build their own careers within broadcasting, including the likes of Capital FM’s presenter Kemi Rogers.
