We’ve been made aware of a phishing campaign targeting postgraduate researchers (PGRs) asking for payment to present research at a fake conference. If you have applied to present at a conference, and receive an email of this nature, check all the details carefully before making any payments.
- Analyse the email carefully for any red flags.
- Hover your mouse over any links to view their true destination. If you are unsure of their legitimacy, do not click.
- Ensure the information in the email matches the actual logistics of the conference.
- Visit the legitimate webpage of the conference to cross check information and make a payment there if possible.
- Still not sure? Report the email as suspicious and IT will investigate.
