As part of our commitment to improving student and staff experiences, we are remodelling Talbot Campus. We have also been working on improving the accessibility and facilities in the Sir Michael Cobham Library (SMCL).
The works to install a second library lift are now underway. The next phase of the works being carried out in the Sir Michael Cobham Library has been laid out in four stages.
The first stage, which began on Monday 5 June, includes the removal of partitions on the first floor in the area where student services staff were previously located. During these works there will be no major impact on your use of the library at this time and silent study spaces remain available on higher floors.
We have now completed the second stage of works to replace the flooring in the same area of the first floor.
Subsequent phases will involve removing partitions and then replacing the flooring on the second floor, from 20 June, and the remainder of the first floor from 4 July. Whilst these works take place on the second floor, there will be some noise, meaning the floor will not be considered a silent area. Between 19 June and 3 July please use the third and fourth floors if you require silent study space.
The front entrance to the Sir Michael Cobham Library is being replaced and for a period of six weeks, from 10 July - 18 August, access to the building will only be possible via the Café Nero side entrance.
The ground floor carpet will be replaced from 17 July onwards, which will involve some staff teams being temporarily located.
