An extra bank holiday is being held on Monday 8 May to mark the coronation of King Charles III, which takes place on Saturday 6 May.
A bank holiday is a public holiday in the UK when many shops and other businesses are closed. They are observed throughout the country, and they are usually associated with national or religious celebrations.
On 8 May, all student services across both campuses will be closed, this includes SportBU. The facilities that will be open on this day are the libraries, the Open Access Centre and the University Retreat.

If you’d like to celebrate the coronation, it will be streamed live on BBC One. There are also a number of related activities and events taking place over the bank holiday weekend in the local community.
