Talbot Campus will undergo major improvements over the next few months to improve your experience here. This may mean that some teams or facilities move from where you can currently find them. You will still be able to access them, and we will make sure to tell you in advance. Here are the details of what's happening:
Sir Michael Cobham Library
We're making some changes to the library to create more space for you to study, as well as new bookable study rooms. There will also be upgraded collaborative spaces on the ground and first floors, and newer furniture on the upper floors. You'll even notice a new entrance to the building and better signage to help you find your way around. The construction work for these upgrades is starting in early June, and there's also going to be a new lift built in the library starting in early April to make it easier for everyone to access the upper floors.
Poole House
We're moving our Student Services teams to a new location in Poole House. This space will be a hub for all Student Services activities, so you can find all the support you need, such as CareersBU and Additional Learning Support, in one central location. This project starts in late May, and the Open Access Centre will move permanently from Poole House to the Sir Michael Cobham Library in late April.
Dorset House
Dorset House's ground floor will be transformed to create shared working spaces for staff and Postgraduate Research (PGR) students. There will also be greater capacity to work with other students, researchers and staff within multi-use spaces. This work starts in late April, and when it's done, you'll also notice a new entrance with improved signage.
We'll keep you updated on all of these projects over the next few months, and let you know when and where the teams are moving. These changes are designed to support your learning and wider experience at BU, as well as to support our staff through enhanced facilities and improved accessibility.
