The Student Union at BU’s peer-to-peer support scheme aims to help new international students settle into life at university and in Bournemouth.
The scheme matches new international students with current student buddies who can share their tips and advice on a range of topics including:
- Settling into life at university
- Finance and housing support
- Health and welfare
- Academic and career success
- Extra-curricular activities.
The scheme for semester two will begin on Monday 13 February and will last for four weeks.
If you are interested in becoming a buddy volunteer
Applications are open until Friday 29 January for you to submit your interest. By becoming a buddy you should be happy for a fellow student to contact you once or twice a week. A training day will be provided on Wednesday 8 February between 1pm and 4pm. You can find out further information on the SUBU ‘Be a Buddy’ webpage.
If you are interested in being matched with a buddy
You will need to register your interest in being matched with a buddy before the deadline on Friday 3 February. Buddies will be assigned on a first come first served basis after attending a training day with SUBU staff and officers in early February. You can find out more on the SUBU ‘Be a Buddy’ webpage or register your interest via an online form.
