A new workbook about 'managing malnutrition as undernutrition and caring for older people living in the community' has been launched.
This workbook has been published as part of a research project called INSCCOPe (Implementing Nutritional Screening in Community Care for Older People). This project looked at the effectiveness, barriers and enablers to implementing a new procedure for screening and care for older people by integrated community teams (ICTs) within Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust. The new procedure was implemented by ICTs in Andover, Winchester and Basingstoke.
The team hopes this workbook will support staff and those working within community teams (including integrated, nursing and therapy teams from all bands and roles) to improve their practice and develop their knowledge and skills to provide better identification and treatment of malnutrition in older people living in their own homes.
You will find a copy of the workbook to download for free in the 2019 project updates and downloads section at www.bournemouth.ac.uk/nutrition-screening. It is linked to a series of short training films that have been developed during the project and can be used with the workbook.
