BU’s Global Festival of Learning is set to continue by visiting two cities in Vietnam.
The Festival series has included nine events to date, since its inception in 2016, visiting China, India, Germany, Hong Kong, Malaysia and Indonesia as well as Vietnam. Over 4,000 people have attended the events across nine festivals.
The 2019 Festival is now set to visit Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam for four days of workshops, talks and events promoting the university and its work.
The theme of the 2019 Festival is ‘Global Talent for the World of Work’. The Festival will include a series of lectures, workshops, panel discussions, industry visits and networking events to share good practice and enhance academic, industry and student engagement in talent development between UK and Vietnamese institutions.
Dr Samantha Leahy-Harland, Head of Operations for the Global Engagement Hub at Bournemouth University, said, “With the current climate of Brexit in the UK, it has never been more important for the university to show that we are very much open to collaboration internationally.
“This year’s Global Festival of Learning is a fantastic chance for us to work alongside international partners to share research and knowledge, and to underline Bournemouth University’s commitment of being a global university, creating graduates who can use their talent across the globe.”
The Festival will also include a stream of work in partnership with the British Council, Foreign Trade University (Hanoi) and University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City. The project looks at worldwide skills development and developing graduates for the world of work.
As well as talks and workshops, the programme will also include an alumni reception, bringing together BU graduates from across Vietnam, to be held at the British Embassy.
Academics from BU’s Faculty of Management and Faculty of Media and Communication, alongside Professional Service staff, will fly to Vietnam to share their research and knowledge on subjects such as business, retail and media.
Taking place across four days from 1 -5 April 2019, the Festival will first visit Hanoi for a day of industry insights and panel discussions, with a chance for members of the public to meet staff, students and alumni from Bournemouth University.
The BU delegation, made up of 17 staff members and eight BU students, will then travel to Ho Chi Minh City for a further two days of Festival activity, including keynote speeches, presentations and interactive workshops.
