Among those attending the Bournemouth University (BU) festival were industry giants DNEG and Disney, alongside ILM, Creative Assembly and London-based animation studio, Blue Zoo, set up by BU Computer Visualisation & Animation graduate Tom Box.
The event, which took place over the course of five days, offered BU and AUB students the chance to hear about a range of industry practices, workflow techniques and creative concepts from those working in the computer visualisation and animation industries globally. A recruitment fair also took place before a weekend of family activities for the BFX Family Weekend.
An awards ceremony was also held to announce the winners of the annual BFX Competition, which saw teams of students from Bournemouth University, Arts University Bournemouth, Ulster University Belfast, University of South Wales, Northumbria University and Falmouth University all competing to win a raft of awards, presented by industry professionals.
BFX Director Sofronis Efstathiou said: “We invite studios from around the world, those that work in games, those that work in film, even those that work in virtual reality or augmented reality, so it’s really an event which really gets the students to have first contact.”
