On Friday 8 December, we'll be celebrating Christmas in style, as the European Students Society and GlobalBU showcase European culture and BU’s relationships across Europe.
The celebration will include:
- Hearing about the student experience at BU and in Europe
- Country-themed stalls showcasing European culture
- Interactive session exploring the smells and tastes of Christmas
- Live music, European food and informal networking.
Celebrations get underway from 11am on the ground floor or the Student Centre where you can explore the various country-themed stalls and some traditional dance performances.
At 12:30pm Dr Sean Beer will give a short talk about exploring the smells and tastes of Christmas followed by a traditional Wassail - a tradition dating back to Anglo-Saxon times to demonstrate charitable seasonal goodwill. Plus more live music and dance from BU students.
There will be a chance to sample some traditional food and drink from across Europe to help get you into the festive mood throughout the day, before our final event – an engaging look into a dystopian future with the amazing Marcus John Henry Brown in the Allsebrook Lecture Theatre – gets underway at 4:30pm.
Attendance is free, but places are limited for the Global BUzz Talk - please register via the Eventbrite page.
Throughout the day, there will be a chance to find out about the host of opportunities that are on offer for students and staff to travel overseas as part of the Erasmus+ programme.
