We're pleased to tell you that the University has now received approval from the Local Highway Authorities to proceed with constructing the final connection of the Boundary Roundabout to the new Link Road (connecting the roundabout to Gillett Road). This is a major milestone for the Campus improvement works and will bring together the works over the last 6 months in the construction of the new bus hub, the widening of Gillett Road, the extension of Car Park H and alterations to Car Parks F&G.
The roundabout works are programmed for 6 weeks and will start on Monday 6 November. The impact of the works on the University and the general public are outlined below:
- Week 1 (6-10 November) - Works to be carried out at night. Traffic management will be set up at 8.00pm every night and removed by 6.00am. This will not affect the pedestrian routes during this period.
- Weeks 2 & 3 (13-24 November) - Works to the roundabout take place between 8.00am and 5.00pm. The roundabout will still be in full operation with both lanes running but the lanes will be pulled in tighter. A temporary protected pedestrian footpath will be provided within the carriageway. The pedestrian access alongside Tolpuddle House will be closed off during this period and pedestrians diverted to access the campus further along Wallisdown Road.
- Weeks 4 &5 (27 November-8 December) - Works to be carried out at night but the temporary pedestrian routes will stay in operation during this period.
- Week 6 Monday 11 December - All pedestrian routes will be opened and the traffic management will be cleared away.
