Bournemouth University has been named Best Educational Institution at the prestigious TIGA Games Industry Awards.
TIGA (The Independent Game Developers’ Association) is the trade association which represents the video games industry and the annual awards recognise creativity and innovation, alongside the contribution of games businesses, studios and education providers.
The awards attract hundreds of entries each year and Bournemouth University picked up the Best Educational Institution Award for its Creative Technology and Gaming courses at the ceremony in London.
Dr Christos Gatzidis, Acting Head of Department for Creative Technology, picked up the award on behalf of BU.
He said: “We are delighted and very proud to be the recipient of the Best Educational Institution award this year, amongst great competitors too.
“Bournemouth University hopes to build on this further and continue to provide the domestic games development industry with fantastic talent and future winners of other TIGA Awards categories!"
TIGA accredit the BSc (Hons) Games Technology course at BU. The accreditation scheme recognises the very best undergraduate and postgraduate university courses, enabling both prospective students and game developers to identify those courses that are producing industry-ready graduates.
