The BBC will join forces with the BFX team at the Bournemouth Air Festival to put on a host of animation workshops ahead of the BFX Festival.
A specialised tent consisting of the BFX team and the BBC’s Make it Digital Tour will be at the Bournemouth Air Festival from 22 to 23 August 2015.
The BFX team, made up of staff from Bournemouth University, will run animation workshops during the day with an Air Show theme and also give a presentation at the end of the day screening the day’s work. This will be part of The Digital Discovery Zone, which will host a range of activities for all ages.
The Digital Discovery Zone will be the home of the workshops over the Air Festival weekend and will include talks from Microsoft. People will have the opportunity to create their own animations through Lego, plasticine or cut-outs that can be edited together to make short ‘stop animation’ sequences and will be screened at the end of both days.
The Air Festival is free for all and features aircrafts from the Royal Air Force and the Royal Navy, as well as civil aviation displays.
The BFX Festival 2015 is a seven day festival taking place at the Bournemouth International Centre, from 28 September to 4 October.
The Family Weekend will be jam packed with events aimed at those interested in film, animation and computer games, containing public screenings, presentations and workshops and best of all it’s free. Eric Shaw, who has worked with SpongeBob Square Pants will talk about writing for animation and Stuart Sumida, an anthropologist who has worked with Disney, DreamWorks and Pixar will make an appearance.
