Bournemouth University student Mary Bell has landed a role with Dorset Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Following an initial trial in January, the second year marketing communications student has impressed her way to a permanent contract as a Marketing Assistant.
Talking about her role, Mary said: “I am very pleased to be offered a great career opportunity with such a prestigious business.
“Working in the marketing department at the Chamber compliments my university course very well, as it gives me real hands on experience in the industry”.
Employed part time at the Chamber, Mary had been tasked with marketing a Sky AdSmart event via social media, which took place in Bournemouth last month. Other projects on the horizon include promoting this year’s British Chambers of Commerce Chamber Awards and the Chamber Brand Awareness campaign.
Mary will also be assisting with marketing this year’s Dorset Business Awards in November, “which will probably be the biggest event that I will work on this year”, she added.
Lorraine Hubbard, Marketing and Events Manager at the Chamber said “It is great to have someone join us who fits in really well and who also brings relevant digital marketing skills to the marketing and events team.”
Day to day tasks include a broad range of duties, from social media marketing and using Google analytics to writing copy for newsletters and assisting with organising the Dorset Business magazine content.
“I am hoping to complete my placement year with the Chamber and also continue working with them whilst finishing my degree and in the future”, Mary added.
The 20 year old local student has grown up and studied in Poole her whole life adds to the growing number of Bournemouth University students and graduates who stay and work locally, as reported in the Bournemouth Echo last year.
