Bournemouth University graduates have been the subject of a number of national and regional news articles following their success at this year’s Oscars.
BU graduates toasted yet another film award win for Interstellar, which won in the Visual Effects category at this year’s Oscars.
This graduate success has not gone unnoticed by the press, with ITV, the BBC and various other outlets praising Bournemouth University nationally.
Locally, BBC Radio Solent, Heart FM, Wave 105 and the Bournemouth Echo all covered the news numerous times.
Andy Lockley – a member of the BU alumni - was on stage at the Oscars ceremony to collect the award. The film also picked up the Special Visual Effects gong at this year’s BAFTAs, with Andy also on stage there to collect the award.
The success is the latest in a long line of victories for BU’s Media School alumni, with former honours coming for Inception, Avatar and Gravity.
Bournemouth University has built up a great reputation for its media courses over recent times. This year, the university hosted its second Visual Effects and Animation Festival (BFX), and Almost Married – a film written and directed by BU graduate Ben Cookson – has been nominated for Best Comedy at the inaugural UK’s National Film Awards.
