Dorset-based food and drink brands will share their marketing insights and experiences at a lecture organised by BU Marketing students.
The Mike Warne Annual Marketing Communications Lecture takes place at BU on 25 February, and this year is All About the Brand.
Final year BA (Hons) Marketing students, who organise the lecture with the support of the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM), have secured three leading food and drink marketers to discuss the importance of their brand within an intensely competitive sector.
This year’s line-up includes Anna Rosier, MD of Organix natural baby food manufacturers; Mark Cribb, the owner of Urban Guild restaurant chain; Jim Cregan from Jimmy's Iced Coffee; and Chief Executive of CIM, Anne Godfrey.
Final year BA (Hons) Marketing student Armine Alaverdjana, one of the organising team, explained the inspiration behind this year’s event:
“There are over 7,800 food and drink manufacturers in the UK that form part of a global food production and supply industry.
"Food and drink manufacturing is an intensely competitive sector, which means product branding and differentiating the brand is very important to ensure the product flies off the shelves.
"Our speakers are local brand leaders who will testify the sector is still one where small and medium-sized enterprises can flourish with professional marketing and branding.”
Now in its ninth year, the event is expected to attract around 250 students, local marketing practitioners and business professionals.
It takes place in Kimmeridge House, on BU's Talbot Campus, from 6pm to 9pm on 25 February.
Tickets start at £10, and the event is free for students. Booking is essential.
