Borrowing - Healthcare Library
As a current Bournemouth University HSS student, you may borrow up to eight items (books and videos) at any one time from the Healthcare Library. Most books can be borrowed for four weeks (Ordinary Loan)and some can be borrowed for two weeks (14 day loans). These books have fines when overdue. Four week loans can be renewed twice if not reserved by other readers, two week loans can be renewed once. Videos may be borrowed for one week.
When the library is closed, books may be left in the secure book box opposite the Rendezvous Restaurant entrance in the main hospital building.
Please do not pass on material you have borrowed to someone else. You are responsible for it until it is returned to the library.
Finding help
You will receive an induction from hospital library staff and can ask for assistance during staffed hours.
It is important to attend your timetabled university IT and library sessions, as they are designed to give you the skills to carry out research for your assignments. To complement these sessions, you can arrange subject advice on a one-to-one basis at Weston Library through your faculty library team.
Any enquiries concerning the resources on the Bournemouth University Library web pages should be addressed to the HSS faculty library team. Alternatively, you can use the Library Chat service or ring Bournemouth University Library's Telephone Enquiry Service on 01202 965959.
Student feedback
At the Healthcare Library we welcome constructive comments from students. This is possible using the suggestion box that is available in the library.
Other resources
There are a number of other resources that may be available to you as you are studying on your placement year, with information available through our Other resources for students on placement in the NHS page.
