Contaminants in water

As global populations grow, the demand for safer food and cleaner drinking water intensifies, making contamination and food security critical challenges. Our research is focused on developing affordable, on-site technologies that not only detect contaminants, adulterants, and toxins in food and water but also eliminate them efficiently.

In collaboration with local food, water, and engineering industries, we are working on advanced sensors that offer rapid detection of harmful compounds such as pesticides, mycotoxins, heavy metals, toxins, and chemical adulterants. These sensors ensure that both imported and locally produced food and water meet strict safety standards. By using cutting-edge techniques in spectroscopy, chromatography, and electrochemistry, we provide precise, real-time analysis, empowering communities and regulators to detect issues before they pose health risks.

Our approach goes beyond detection. We are also developing innovative absorbents designed to remove and neutralize contaminants on-site. These advanced materials are engineered to capture harmful molecules, making food and water safe for consumption. This dual approach—detection followed by elimination—offers a powerful solution for ensuring food and water safety at the point of need.

By making these technologies accessible and affordable, we aim to contribute not only to public health but also to addressing global challenges like food insecurity and water scarcity. Our work strives to create a safer, healthier world by combining detection with action, ensuring clean, safe, and reliable food and water for all.
