Two recent film production and cinematography graduates have launched a crowdfunding campaign to get their first feature film to the big screen.
Will Stone and Adam Pickford studied film on the BU course which is delivered at Wiltshire College. While at Salisbury, they began working together on short films winning several prestigious awards including a Royal Television Award for the best drama in the South of England. Graduating with first class degrees in 2017, they have since kept working together producing a series of short films and pilots as well as freelancing in the film industry. While Will directs and Adam is the cinematographer, their complementary skill sets make them an effective team as they script, produce and complete post-production on each project.
This summer they shot their first feature “The Fence” with a full professional crew over a period of six weeks in and around Bristol. The project was the culmination of over a year spent developing the script and raising sufficient finance. The story is a development of Will’s graduation film that has already had 4.3 million hits on YouTube. Set in the early 80s on what were then some notorious council estates, it focuses on the adventures of two brothers as they attempt to track down their stolen motorbike. Much is made of the period motorbikes and cars, including Ford Escorts and Capris, as well as the 80s music, clothes and gadgets including Walkmans and CB radios.
Now the film is ‘in the can’ the pair are embarking on the next stage of the project, which involves completing the edit and sound design, applying the effects and colour grading and covering the costs of music rights, distribution and exhibition ahead of a planned cinema release in the second half of 2022.
To raise the £40,000 needed to cover these costs, they pair have launched a crowdfund Kickstarter campaign To find out more visit “The Fence” webpage or the Kickstarter campaign page.
