Bournemouth University has placed ninth in the University of the Year category at the WhatUni Student Choice Awards.
The Awards are based on student reviews, and the ninth place is a rise from 55th the year before. First place was awarded to the University of Sheffield.
In addition, BU was recognised as third in the UK in the postgraduate category, behind the universities of Chester and Lincoln.
The WhatUni Awards also include regional categories, with BU placing as regional winners in three categories; Postgraduate, International and Student Life. SUBU, BU’s Students’ Union, also came top for the South-West region in the Students’ Union category.
"It is fantastic to be in the top 10 of WhatUni Student Choice Awards because it is based on feedback from our own students," said Dr Shelley Thompson, Pro Vice-Chancellor of Student Experience. "It means so much that our students highlighted the positive, supportive atmosphere and the impact of practical, authentic work that helps prepare them for future careers."
Tara Montgomery, Head of UK Marketing and Student Recruitment at Bournemouth University, said, “We were so pleased to have been recognised at the WhatUni Student Choice Awards, and are so grateful for all those who have submitted reviews and given their feedback on Bournemouth University.
“We strive to do all we can to support students as they learn, and to give them the best possible student experience during their time at BU and create a positive environment for learning and developing.”
WhatUni supports student decision making as a comparison site for universities, with reviews and contributions from current students.
